Who doesn’t love to be comfortable and stylish at the same time? Thankfully, this is a trend that’s lasted—joggers, sweatshirts, and sneakers. Oh my. One of my favorites is wearing sneakers with just about anything. And nowadays, you can. No one’s going to think twice if you’re rocking a sporty sneak with a flouncy skirt. In fact, it’s bound to receive compliments. But what’s tricky is pairing the right shoe with the right outfit. Once that happens? Instant magic. Here are a few tips to consider when reaching for a sneaker, whether it be for work, date night, brunch, or the weekend.
Sneakers for work
Depending on your office, this trend may or may not work. If you’re in a more business casual / creative environment, I say lucky you—this trend is perfect. Regardless of casualness, your office space might still require a sleeker version of a sneaker. A less athletic look, per say. Which is why I’m loving Joie’s Huxley Slip-on Sneaker. The simple design and neutral color keep things classy, while the texturized leather upper adds a bit of chic. Pair these with just about anything—from crepe joggers and a skinny poplin pant to a full skirt and fit-and-flare dress.
Sneakers for date night
There are no rules when it comes to date night. Except maybe one. Have fun. One of my favorite things about fashion is the juxtaposition of two styles—edgy and feminine; classy and trendy; modern and boho. Pairing two opposites somehow create one whole look, no? Which is why, for date night, I’m digging the idea of a long flowing maxi paired with boyish sneaks—even high-tops. Top the outfit off with a leather jacket and you’re ready for an epic date night.
Sneakers for brunch
Everything about brunch screams stylish and comfortable. You’re most likely eating at an adorable cafe with beautiful ambiance, which means you want to be as cute as the decor. And yet, you’re probably planning on eating pancakes, eggs, avocado toast, and bottomless mimosas. Which means comfort factor is a must. I’m loving the tee-shirt dress paired with athletic sneaks in fun colors. Tie a denim jacket around your waist, and you’ve just dominated the brunch style game.
Sneakers for the weekend
Can we say perfect pairing? Sneakers and shorts all. Day. Long. You can go as casual as you like here and have as fun as you want because you’re in charge of your weekends. Love that you can throw on a cap, your favorite sweatshirt, distressed denim shorts, and a fun pair of sneakers, and while you’re as comfortable as it gets —you’re also looking on trend.
