How To Style Cocktail Dresses for Day

I have somehow accumulated a decent sized collection of cocktail dresses that just don’t get enough play. Since becoming a Rent the Runway addict, my party dresses get even less wear, just because of the near constant temptation of renting something new.

But as summer drags on I’ve been getting a little bored with my casual sundresses and started looking for ways to dress up my summer style. If you are starting to get the summer dressing blues, here are 3 ways to get more wear out of your favorite party frocks by mixing and matching them with some of your wardrobe staples!

Black Cocktail Dress

Style a glamorous LBD with classic kicks for a fresh, sporty look. I paired this hot backless dress from Revolve with the Adidas Superstar sneakers and a lazy ponytail. The dress is sexy and flirty, and pairing it with sneakers makes the look unique, and of course comfortable enough for running around the city.

Strapless Floral Dress

Layer a chambray shirt over a printed dress for casual meets girly glam style. This multi-colored strapless Nicole Miller is one of my favorites, and the color and pattern make it just too pretty to sit in the back of my closet. With a half-buttoned chambray shirt, easy espadrilles, and funky metallic shades, it can be ago -to summer look for boozy brunches or outdoor day parties.

Sequined Tunic

Pair a sparkly shift with jeans and booties for a bit of rocker chic edge. This vintage sequined shift is one of the best things I own. The blush color is super flattering and the boxy fit hides a multitude of diet sins. With Zara moto jeans and spiked heel booties, it’s a sassy, sexy look perfect for post-work drinks.
